How can I make my desk setup more aesthetic?
Before deciding what to add to your desk, decide which things you want to belong together. A few deliberate choices can give the space a more consistent look.
Begin with the visible workspace
Separate the things you use every day from those you only need occasionally. Give the keyboard, mouse and notebook clear places, and remove unused cables or packaging. Leaving some surface empty helps the objects you like stand out.
This is not a rule to hide everything. Tools you need should remain accessible. If you take notes often, putting your notebook in a drawer purely for appearance can make the desk less useful.
Choose a base color and a small accent
Look at the surface you already have: light wood, white, gray or black. Instead of replacing large pieces, try connecting smaller details with an accent color. Your notebook, desk mat and clock display can share a color family without matching exactly.
One example is a light wooden desk, a dark keyboard and a restrained green clock display. This is a starting arrangement, not a shopping list. Use it to consider how the objects you already own look together.

Add a detail that also does something
Our suggestion for “What can I add to my desk?” is a compatible phone you already own, used as a clock. A Sync App Studio clock app turns the screen into both a time display and a small part of the desk’s visual composition.
Choose a design in Mobile Clock Pro on iPhone or Nightstand Clock: StandBy Mode on Android. Where the design allows it, adjust the digits, colors or background to suit your palette. Some customization is paid; check the available options on your device. The clock display runs while the app is open.
Try it beside the main monitor without blocking another object. If it draws too much attention, reduce brightness or choose a simpler face. The aim is to avoid having every part of the desk compete for attention.
Try a small before-and-after experiment
- Take a photo of the current desk from your usual seat.
- Remove unused objects and organize visible cables.
- Choose a phone clock and match it to one accent color.
- Look from the same angle: is your working area smaller, can you read the clock, and does the result feel like your space?
If you want to add a plant, small lamp or personal object, first decide where it would fit. A phone clock might already provide the detail you were missing. You do not have to replace the whole setup.
